Statement Of Purpose: The Sport Management Program

Life is considered to be a roller coaster. Starting unexpectedly, you are jerked into motion and instantly regret getting on the ride. The cart begins climbing up the first large hill, and then you are descending into numerous twist and turns that will leave you on the edge of your seat. In the end, you are left with a feeling of excitement and are at peace with yourself for taking the brave risk of stepping on. My life is very similar to that roller coaster ride, which actually began when I was the age of five. It has taken me on a journey that entailed many emotional highs and even some lows, I also gain relationships with others that will last a lifetime, and I learned certain life skills that I couldn’t have learned better anywhere else. The sport of wrestling has given me opportunities in life that I am extremely thankful for and without it I would not be where I am today. It has taken me all the way from the young child simply doing what he loves, to a student-athlete at the prestigious University of Michigan. Soon enough the roller coaster ride I am currently on will come to an end, but there’s another roller coaster for me to step on somewhere else in the park. …show more content…

The School of Kinesiology’s Sport Management program is the perfect path for me as I continue my education at the University of Michigan. The Sport Management program has a curriculum that is perfectly tailored to me. The combination of business and sports is an ideal opportunity because of my admiration for sports, and my strong interest in management and finances. The Sport Management program offers students coursework that prepares them for work in the sport industry. An occupation in the business related field is something that I want to pursue. The unique aspect of working with sports, but not directly in the spotlight as an athlete is something I would love to be apart
