Stereotype is another impact of today’s mass media. Stereotypes play an important role in today 's society especially in the media and advertising. Stereotypes have existed since the beginning of time in our everyday life through religion, politics and media. As states in her article, “the media can influence people’s perception about a particular topic or person, it can change attitudes, feelings or behaviors” (Mitu Bianca 2). Stereotypes are the assumptions of people are like, whether true or false. The media often uses and misrepresents stereotypes which are significantly accepted among people in our society. Therefore, people judgments are often based on the information in which they received and perceived, and their assumptions based on wrong facts. There are always different sides to every story, and not all African countries are starving with hunger. As a result, this proves that the danger of a single story is that “it robs people of dignity,” and it makes less important and degraded. Media bias or spin also is a serious problem in today’s media.
