The tragedy of nine-eleven affected people all around the world. Today people of Middle Eastern descent and those who practice the Islamic religion have been discriminated, mistreated, and judged because of their appearance and their religion. In President Barack Obama’s speech On a New Beginning, he addressed due to the terrorist attacks by the Islamic extremist group Al-Qaeda, the relationship between Muslims and Americans has been detrimental, causing many misconceptions and stereotypes of each group.
In President Barack Obama’s speech in Cairo, Egypt he addresses the extremist tactics and that the killing of innocent men, women, and children won’t be tolerated. Because of the violent extremists, American troops have been deployed to different countries in the Middle East for the uncertainty of any other attacks to the American people. President Obama states “America can never tolerate violence extremists, we must never alter or forget our principles.” His views on the extremists reflect most of America’s view on Muslims.
