A 16 year old is on trial for a murder and he could receive 25 years to life in prison. I could tell you that he is guilty or not guilty, but you have to decide whether he is guilty or innocent with the evidence I provide to you. A 16 year old African- American, Steve Harmon, is guilty of the murder of Mr. Nesbitt. Steve Harmon is on trial for the murder of 55 year old Aguinaldo Nesbitt and Steve could possibly receive 25 years to life in prison. Steve said he did not kill Mr. Nesbitt.
If you were blamed for a crime you didn’t do, would you let that accusation go and let it tarnish your reputation? Would you let it fly by and have others judge from every angle? No, right? Normally people who get accused of crimes demand justice as they know they did not commit the crime and only justice can give them the freedom they deserve. But let’s look at Steve Harmon, the main character from the book Monster by Walter Dean Myers who was on trial for murder.

Missy Franklin should be remembered because she swims for the USA Olympic team showing great pride representing her country in the sport that she has a tremendous love. Even though Steve is a relatively shy, kind person who has a positive reputation throughout his school as a talented filmmaker, he is categorized as a "monster" simply because he is on trials. She was always trying to make Steve looked bad as the other individuals allegedly involved in the crime. His depiction by the prosecuting attorney as a "monster" and whose treatment in the criminal justice system is as depraved as the crime of which Steve is accused, could foreshadow a ruined existence. Even though Steve in some way took part in the robbery was not the type of person she wanted the public and the jury to believe he was.
Steve and his family were so happy. The book said, “The guards who were standing behind Steve moved away from him. He has been found not guilty.” (Myers 276). This shows Steve is a good person.

The story of Chris McCandless has become a pop culture phenomenon. Many are fascinated by his desire to abandon his family and society and “walk into the wild” (Krakauer 69). Newscasts, magazine articles, movies, and books have tried to define what motivated him to give up everything for his Alaskan odyssey; however, the answers died with McCandless. People make assumptions about him without knowing his entire story. McCandless chose to do the unconventional, making people think he was either foolish or brave and determined, but ultimately he was justified for doing what he did.
He depends on others to bring clarity to his mind, such as saying, “What did I do?”. After the session at court was finished, Steve was insecure about what Ms. O’Brien, his lawyer, thinks of him. He writes an entry about it: “Who was Steve Harmon? I wanted to open my shirt and tell her to look into my heart to see who I was, who the real Steve Harmon”(92). During the trial, Ms. O’Brien stays distant from him.
