The Man Who Thought
Different
A Biography by Karen Blumenthal In the book by Karen Blumenthal “Steve Jobs, The Man Who Thought Different” she tells the story of an extremely smart man who became a very successful entrepreneur and business man. The author sets up the book with Mr. Job’s giving a commencement speech at Stanford University in 2005 and then starts telling the story of his life starting from the beginning. She does a very good job covering all events of Mr. Jobs life in three parts with good detail but not so much as to lose the readers interest. The book helps you better understand the type of person he was, what made him tick, and how he could accomplish so much.
After opening with Steve Jobs at the commencement speech, Blumenthal starts part one of her book at the very beginning of his life, his birth. His parents were both young and in college when he was conceived. When the birthmother’s father finds out she pregnant he is unapproving of the situation and sends her to a home for unwed mothers until she delivers. On February 24, 1955, the baby was born and adopted by Clara and Paul Jobs who named him Steven Paul Jobs. He was extremely hurt by being let go by Apple and started looking at what his next big venture would be, determined not to give up. He put all him money into two new companies one called Next which was a new computer company he formed and the other called Pixar. After determining that computers could help the Pixar company create animated movies and Disney investing in it, the movie Toy Story was formed which opened on Thanksgiving weekend in 1995. It became a box office hit and helped Jobs become noticed
