I recently read an article called what is a healthcare marketing plan by Stewart Gandolf. I would like to share some insight on his article that I found very helpful in understanding. The first point that the author made in his article was that a marketing plan is not something that you should go without. You wouldn't hire someone to build your new office if they didn't have a plan or any blueprints to show you. That is a good point. To be successful in marketing you have to have a plan. That is one of the main points that the author makes right away in the beginning of his article.
There are several different benefits of a marketing plan besides completing your goal.

The first one is going to be by demographics. This means you can group your customers by gender, age, occupation, income, family status, or education. The second grouping is going to be geographic. This is going to tell you how your customer lives. Such as the location, the weather, and population. “Psychographics are the more personal characteristics of a person, including: Personality, Attitudes, Values, Interests/hobbies, Lifestyles, Behavior.” (Porta, M. 2010) The last identifying factor is going to be the behavior that your customer shows. When all the steps in your marketing plan and analysis are complete you can market your product to the customer. If your plans fails and you are not bringing in revenue or you feel there is something wrong then go back and evaluate and see what corrections you can make. It may take a couple times get the feel just right. Or maybe the answer is simply that your customers do not like the marketing methods that you use to get your product out.
This author is very informative. The ideas of what you need to do to make sure you are successful are spot on. I think the audience that he's trying to reach out to are those people who have the motivation and the determination to make their business succeed. If I wasn't a current student and have been studying this stuff for a while now, I would think that this is very good descriptive information.
