Strategic communication is essential for the development of a successful communication plan to reach out to the various targeted stakeholders when disseminating important information to establish and maintain relationship. The word Strategy is defined to be a plan of action used to accomplish a long-term goal (Oxford Dictionary). Strategic communication is responsible for assessing the overall situation and highlighting the issues, possible outcomes and solutions that may aid or affect the organization’s ability to function (Mahoney 2013, 20). Happiness from the Skies is a project, which SKM collaborated with Coca-Cola, aimed at recognizing and appreciating the efforts of the often overlooked Guest Workers and to raise awareness how a little act of kindness is able to bring locals and guest workers closer together (Singapore Kindness Movement 2014). As an organization, SKM promotes the act of kindness and aims to instil courtesy in each individual within the community to create a gracious Singapore for a better community to live in (Singapore Kindness Movement). The project roped in the community, giving them the opportunity to show their appreciation through handwritten notes attached to Coke cans before it made its way by drones to the 2734 unsuspecting workers (Coca Cola 2014).

The strategic communication plan is reflected in how SKM has reflected their organization’s goal, which is to create a more gracious Singapore, by working with the community to raise awareness of the current issues within the society and providing the society an opportunity to actively participate in making a change. This public education campaign allows SKM to foster a closer relationship with the public, gaining their trust and support, and therefore slowly instil the change in attitude to attain the best society it can
