During this unit, strategies were extremely necessary due the fact that poems are not my strongest type of writing. One of the strategies that really helped me was in my WNB on April eighteenth, “Poets use ordinary objects to craft story poems.” This strategy helped me because, it made me realize that I can create poems from just an ordinary object, as seen in my poems, Secrets, Baseball, Security cameras, and Old Glory. Another strategy that I used was also from my WNB from April twenty-second, “Poets write poems by looking hard at what’s going on in our world.” This strategy helped me, because it helped me realize that I can look deeper into an object. You can see this strategy as in my poems, Secrets, Baseball, and Security Camera.This year I have read books about Edgar Allen Poe, and Mark Twain. These poets really inspired me as I attempted to write very deeply and have a very smooth rhythm to my poems, mainly focusing on my poem, Secrets. Overall I drafted 9 poems, however I put a lot of effort into each one, resulting me in having to still choose from a variety for my final draft. When choosing which poems I should use I took in consideration variety, words, room to work on, and personal meaning. Mark Twain and Edgar Allen Poe inspired, because of how much detail they put into something that a normal person could barely write two stanzas about.
