Over the past few months, business has been stable throughout the colonies. The leading occupation in these colonies is farming. Although farmers produced a lot of crops, their income was dependent on the value and quality of the crop itself. Agriculture plays a vital role in American economy, and there is evidently some strengths and weaknesses in this business. In New England, farming is quite limited due to the geographic boundaries. Rocky land and forests prevented proper farming. Flat land is required for mass production of crops. Thus, a physical boundary or weakness is presented. However, fishing is practiced regularly and provides loads of business and commerce for fisherman. One economic activity practiced regularly in the Middle colonies is the production of grains. Grains can be traded to both New England and Southern colonies, as grains are not commonly grown in either of these regions. Trading is also a major economic activity done in the Middle colonies, which is a strength in their business. However, ethnic differences caused tensions in income. Wealthier farmers who owned large farms made more money through export. However, German and Irish farm owners make little to no money, and have previously missed out on great opportunities to export. Differences in ethnicities has made it difficult for poorer farmers to make enough in able to life adequately. This is a weakness, seeing that the Middle colonies has the largest immigrant population. Life is difficult for most of the colonists in this region, and it has become hard to make a decent living.
