Introduction
Understanding one’s own strengths can be challenging but useful. Being self-aware can be especially beneficial in certain careers such as nursing. Being self-aware of one’s own strengths in the nursing field is extremely important for the nurse, their patient, and their peers. Some people may even suggest that understanding one’s own strengths is necessary to develop a meaningful nurse-patient relationship (Rasheed et al., 2018). Therefore, taking the Strengths Finder quiz can benefit the nurse, patient, and healthcare team in its entirety. I learned a lot about myself and how I can contribute to a nursing team by taking the Strengths Finder quiz.

I was not at all surprised that my number one strength is winning others over because I love people. I love being around people whether they are strangers or friends and enjoy making conversation. In clinical, I am always excited to meet and talk to new people. Helping classmates with their patients is exciting to me because I am able to meet and talk to even more people throughout the day. I was surprised that one of my strengths was positivity. Although I do not think that I am a negative thinker all the time, I did not think positivity would have been one of my strengths. For example, during a typical day at clinical, although I do like to be hopeful, I think very logically about my patient and their condition. Even if I do try to keep a positive attitude most of the time, there are times where I am very realistic about the situation and I lose some of my positive attitude. Taking this information into my nursing career will not only help me personally understand my abilities, but it will also benefit my patients as well as each nurse I work with. According to Younas et al. (2019), being a self-aware nurse can bring nurses more confidence to navigate challenging situations as well as enhancing care to all patients. I hope to more confidently use these strengths to assist other nursing staff as well as my patients and to be more prepared for challenging
