Stress can come at anytime in life, whether it’s a good day or a bad one. Homework, sports, and friends – all have allowed me to feel stress throughout my life.() Almost everyone stresses out about homework or a big test that is coming up in school – I am one of them. () Adding to the load of stress is sports; they can be a positive for meeting new people, but negative for mental health. While being involved in different sports and activities I have meet a lot of different people. Thus, new friends should equal less stress, right? After school at practice, I would stress about being the best I could to impress the coaches. I had to meet their expectations otherwise I would not play. Track and softball are the most stressful sports I am in. Track gives me the most stress out of all the sports I am in because each race focuses on individuals. Every year I have been out for track I run for the shuttle hurdle team. Emily Mathews, Sola Stephenson, and Stacy Hackenmiller were the shuttle hurdle team when I was a freshman; they needed one person – I was that person. () The three of them were the best on the team; they were fast and confident and knew how it felt to run a race. () I on the other hand was the new person who had no experience in running a high stakes race. The stress I felt being on the relay team was strong, I felt as if I was a sheep in a herd of wolves. I felt that I had to live up to the potential of theses girls on the relay team. Emily was the stud on the relay, she intimidated everyone, including me . Before every race I got so nervous and stress that I would mess up in the race, which made me start to sweat profusely. Until one day Emily helped me understand that it is okay to stress before a race as long as I could perform to the best of my ability. The stress involved with sports has dwindled as time went on.
