every student has a right and a chance to reach their maximum , also to have their own expectations. Rose states that every student should be responsible for their own education but teachers should set a higher standard for students. ”Students will float to the mark you set” (Rose , page 2).Rose is an award winning author, and educational expert , but at one point he was just like every other student
The very controversial and widely known article “What College Can Mean to the Other America” under the authority of Mike Rose – for the sake of clarity and objectivity – touches upon three main points regarding formal education in America, which are: well-round education as whether a private or public good, governmental intervention in helping the less fortunate, and lastly, poverty in America is regarded, especially by the upper classes, as a prerequisite for social hierarchy and economic progression. Allow me to further elaborate and support these three main points, in my perspective anyway, throughout the paragraphs to follow. Rose under some instances in his article strongly advocated for government intervention in preventing or at least
For example if the teacher asks the children to create a cat from play dough, she should also create her a cat from the play dough and show the class her attempt at making a cat out of the play dough and she will enhance and encourage the learners to create their own because hers is just a mere guideline another example would be if at the beginning of the lesson the teacher says children put on your aprons as we going to do art today, at the same time she is busy putting on her apron. Parents should want to give their kid’s the best opportunities in life. Malcolm Gladwell discusses parents giving their children a better chance at success by redshirting kids before kindergarten in his book The Story of Success. Redshirting in education is the practice of holding one’s child back a year before entering kindergarten. This allows the child to have gained a year of extra knowledge and cognitive ability if the extra time is utilized properly. Parents are struggling in deciding if they should hold their kids back or if they should let them be susceptible to having a disadvantage.
Freshman year came along and I wanted to attend Sullivan High School. I wanted to come back to my hometown, I was just missing the people I started it all out with in the beginning. My dad and I had all of the paperwork finished already to go for me to attend Sullivan High School in August, but my mom refused and wouldn’t budge to let me go. She didn’t want me going to Sullivan, she wanted me to stay with all of my new friends I had made at Owensville. She thought my best bet would be to stay and proceed to go to OHS.
First high achieving students grades are what keep them focused and motivated in school. On the other end of the spectrum are students who simply do not have the willpower or drive to earn high marks in school. There are students who focus who too much on grades, and by doing this end up memorizing the material being taught and not absorbing. They are like little robots spouting facts and information, but not being able to truly comprehend its meaning.

Simply put, the goal of education is to enrich the lives of students. In doing so a leader promotes to produce articulate, expressive thinkers, life-long learners and individuals who are socially responsible, resilient, and can be an active, productive citizen of the world. Teachers work very hard to make sure that the students understand what they are learning. “Teachers work hard to make sure that the students have a better future,” said a student who chose that the teachers should be paid $65,000 annually. Teachers encourage their students to do classwork and homework so that the students can get good grades, which would help them get into good colleges. In today 's society, teachers are seen as lazy people who always sit behind their desk and give their students bunch of paperwork. They just make their students watch a movie the whole period instead of teaching them.
Not only children learn from teachers, teachers also need to learn from children. A successful teacher is willing to learn. Teachers know that they are encouraged to learn for lifetime and not just for a short time as teacher is a life-long learner. Teacher not only gives knowledge to children and also gains knowledge when they
As a child, high school seemed like a place that was miles away. Everything about it- with the exception of the graffitied bathroom stalls-lit up my eyes with the dream that I would one day be walking down its halls as a student. Although high school felt so far away, Montville High School itself was no stranger to me. When I was younger, my mom tortured me by sending me to the Chinese program held there every Sunday. I also used the school’s athletic facilities from joining the recreation track program, which I stopped going to after two weeks from discovering my antipathy for physical activity.
I believe that a teacher’s role is to prepare an environment where children can fully realize their potential
