They might regret their past very much and are doing all they can to become a better person. The goal of education is to give everyone a chance to learn. “for these inmates that not only are thee worst of the worst, at least in the eyes of the public, but more importantly, in my own eyes, they were the ones that needed education the most.” (Martin, 2). The goal of education is to let kids experience a real learning environment.
Different factors played a part in the change of the world from 1500-1750 to reach the modern world that we see today but the printing press and the way it impacted the spread and accessibility of literature and how it connected to newfound religious ideas was by far the most powerful. To begin, the printing press led to the spread and accessibility of literature. The creation of the printing press led to a big domino effect as “printing made books less expensive and more available”1 allowing for a larger quantity of writings to be produced for a cheaper price for the consumer giving more people the opportunity to purchase and read different works evidently leading to increased literacy rates. The printing press also affected the spread of writings as “printing revolutionized the speed and range of distribution of texts”2. This increase of speed and range can be concluded due to the fact that literature before the printing press had been handwritten.
The school must work to include all children in the main activities in the class where ever possible and encourage the participation of all pupils in the curriculum and school life. Ensure that all pupils are encouraged to achieve to their full potential by affording them appropriate degrees of challenge and support.
The question of what the purpose of education is a littered debate between readiness for the future workforce and growth as an individual. Neither answer is incorrect; education may prepare students for a career, college, or technical school while it can also be argued that education enlightens and builds an individual’s character, philosophy and citizenship. While observing a fourth-grade class in an elementary school in the Central Dauphin School District I have seen both perceptions of education go head-to-head. The district focuses on preparing students for the future workforce while my mentor teacher has adopted a progressivist view focusing on the whole child. The difference in the belief of education’s purpose causes tension between the administration and teachers which can be seen in the classroom in a variety of ways.
A leader, as defined in Merriam-Webster dictionary, is something that leads. This does not wholly illustrate the traits and qualities required to be a leader. I envision a leader as one who creates a vision for the future and delivers that vision effectively to others, to motivate and inspire them. My description of a leader aligns with the goals the W. P. Carey School of Business has set forth, thus establishing a relationship that will be mutually beneficial. Throughout my life, I have been cognizant of the way I carry myself, from my mannerisms to my attitudes, working on my personal development to become the leader I aspire to become, especially when actions speak louder than words.
I cannot over emphasize the vital need to prepare children academically, socially, and ethically so that all children can excel at learning. All children should feel not only physically, but intellectually safe and secure in their school environment. By the latter, I mean that students need to feel prepared and confident that they can and will succeed in school as well or better than their classmates. Parents, by default, are granted both the responsibility and the enjoyment of empowering their children to be lifelong learners. Happily, Literacy and Love Go Hand in Hand.
During my childhood in the 1990s, most kids of my country had similar ideas about their future ideals: to become doctor, pilot, or president. I was one of them, only with some inconsistencies. I kept changing my mind about person I wanted to be. Little did I know that I had passion in leading people.
I believe that all children are individuals, unique in their abilities, from a wide diversity of backgrounds and cultures, and they also have the right to be treated with dignity and respect. Educators are observers and designers who have to observe children’s abilities, interests and learning styles for designing a curriculum that fulfill everyone’s needs. Leadership Analysis I originally joined LEAD with Honors thinking I would fix all the mistakes I made as a leader in high school. There were a lot of mistakes made, but the biggest one was my strategy for leader emergence. Actually, I did not know it was even a strategy.
I am interested in science of God and using that knowledge to lead individuals, groups and communities. My passion is supporting and advocating for various populations on a professional level. Theology is the most relevant foundation in leaders in history and everyday in our respective communities. Through my undergraduate academia, employment and study abroad experience I am confident that this is the right path towards making change. I would like to acquire to the expertise through the Master of Arts in Theology and Leadership program, to fulfill my educational desires in Theology and Leadership and in return serve an array of populations.
I am an active part of my school's First Robotics team and is one of its most senior members. I have the dedication to volunteer to do some of the more mundane tasks and to help out wherever I am needed. I am also very competitive. I hate the feeling of losing, and will push myself to do always do better. I took a leadership course in order to become a more well-rounded student.
I hope to bring my leadership as way to convey a strong presence in the classroom while also being able to take a step back and allow others to have a leadership role. I happen to be a very driven individual and since this is a very rigorous program I want to use that attribute when dealing with different challenges that might occur and overcome them. I wish to form substantial relationships with all the people I should encounter, especially my professors, classmates, and other peers. I understand that in order for me to properly engage myself with the program I have to be willing to open myself to uncomfortable but safe situations, and hope to use knowledge I have previously gained along with newly attained knowledge to my advantage. The purpose of education is to create the “catalyst”, - the interest, the imagination, the self-confidence, the enthusiasm for further knowledge that helps a person grow beyond what they believe they can be. Education should help develop skills and knowledge, so students can be productive members of society. The more knowledge you have, the more opportunities you have in life. I think back to my childhood and the teachers that made an impact in my life. I want to be that catalyst for students.
