Through the National Student Leadership Conference, I will be marching out of my comfort zone and learning qualities that will aid me in becoming a better leader. In my school there are numerous leadership opportunities, from being class president, to being a house captain, to planning a school wide event.

As a rising senior, I want to join the Ladders for Leaders program in order to obtain an opportunity to participate in a paid professional summer internship. This program will allow me to gain more experience in the professional world. I hope that this program will help me further explore my interests so I can have a better understanding of what I want to do in the future. There are not a lot of opportunities given to high school students in terms of internships and work opportunities. We are not taught the necessary skills required for the workplace.

According to the website collegeresults.org, only 24% of the students attending Old Dominion University are graduating within four years' time. This concerns me because I plan to transfer to ODU and graduate from ODU. Because a college education is important, I want to become a successful student by listening to expert advice, by developing effective strategies, and by overcoming my challenges. Because most people agree that a college education is important, I want to become a successful student. Robert S. Feldman, a professor of psychology explains many benefits that I will receive from earning my degree.
My Philosophy as a Strategic Leader Philosophy is the guiding force behind a leader’s actions. It provides direction and a platform to describe one’s values. This platform changes as the leader grows and learns more about themselves and their leadership style. My personal leadership philosophy revolves around my followers, since without followers, there is no team to lead. This philosophy is the product of many years of leadership study, mentorship, and application.
What Do I Want to Do With My Life? Throughout the two years I have been attending Infinity Early College High School, the pondering question is, “What will I do once I am out of high school with my Associate’s Degree?” The question still remains till this day, but I have realized a possible career I might be interested in. With some research and consideration, the job I might be leaning towards might be something in the science and medical field.
I’m a student who has a strong desire to increase my leadership skills with the help of the Leadership Education and Progress program. I would like to create solid communication abilities with my peers and a strive of confidence for my ideas. The LEAP program would give me an opportunity that is not given to all students and would thus make me a mentor to other freshman students to give them guidance and mentorship learned in the program. In addition, I would be open to many peers that will strengthen my ability to be open minded since I will be around individuals who all have different perspectives on different ideas. With the UT Staff and upperclassmen involved with the program, I will create connections and a network that will be beneficial
Computers are the driving force of the 21st century. It is down to the advance systems that programme the codes like HTML and JAVA, which enable the core of our society to function. Without such advancements in technology we would not have the efficient services we have today. It is through the study of information and computation that the discipline can be explored further. Within the Business world the information technology used is ever changing and I'll like to be apart of this changing process.
A Middlebury Institute degree in translation would assist me in helping others learn English, promote cross-cultural exchange, foster stronger U.S.-Japan ties, and learn more about Japanese culture. I believe that my experience teaching English in Fiji and being an ALT on the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program coupled with my educational background in Japanese language and culture will help me achieve these goals. In 2016, I became a participant of the JET Program as an assistant language teacher (ALT) after applying for the third time. Toyo Town in Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture became my new home for three years.
Since I was a little girl I wanted to be a dentist. I had always changed my mind of what I wanted to be because everything was interesting to me. By the time I was 13, 1 confirmed that I wanted to be a dentist because my cousin was studying to become a dentist and she used to teach me everything she knew and it was really interesting to me. Also every time I went to the dentist it amazed me how they can fix a tooth in such a short time. That made me sign up for the dental assisting program at Warren.
Leadership Statement I pride myself in being a good listener, and this has helped in all the leadership roles I held throughout my life thus far. I have experienced democratic leaderships through being a part of groups in college for class presentations, being a choir leader in my church, being a volunteer in a few projects, at my place of work and also as being a part of my family. The attributes of being a good leader has expanded with time through these experiences. Some of valuable leadership traits that I have been able to obtain and strengthen over time include: how to be a team player, effective listening skills, delivering constructive criticism, the need to understand people’s temperaments, and how to be a problem solver and a risk-bearer.
Most importantly, since the contents of this course are largely different from what I have learned in my major courses. I regard this as a rare opportunity for me to take on some new challenges, and I would like to take a chance to develop my leadership skills. Before attending this course, “leadership” is a word quite far away from me, and I only have some basic understandings of it. And I found out that most of my thoughts I had about leadership are very different from what it really is.
