Substance Abuse In Jane Austen's Emma

In the beginning Ali is trying to go to the lake with her little cousin (Emma) and her Aunt Dulcie. Alis' mom would not let her go from being scared of water. Her dad did not care so much because, something happened at the lake when Alis' mom (Claire) and her Aunt Dulcie were kids. Ali found a picture that was torn beside Claire and Dulcie, all it said was "T," but her mom threw it away (later in the book T stands for Teresa.) Nobody told Ali who "T" was, but every time she had mentioned the picture of them Dulcie and Claire got real mad. Claire lets Ali go to the lake, but then they met a girl named sissy, she always wore the same bathing suit. Emma and Ali walked a long way (40 minutes) to find Sissy for Emma, but she wasn't there. Ali tries to help Emma out but, since Emma's been around Sissy.... She acts like her, mean and nasty. (Page 62-63) Sissy is so mean to anybody that she talked too, she kicked Emma's castle down and almost drowned her by not letting her up out of the water. The things I don't like about this book, is how mean Sissy is to Ali and Emma, when they are so nice to her. Also, Sissy just keeps popping up everywhere, but when Emma and Ali look for her, they never can find her. I hate that Dulce's studio was ruined, she knew someone was haunting her, but she just said it was some teenagers. (Page 95-96) Sissy took Ali to the end of a cliff saying that she only knew what happened down there, which drove me crazy when she just ran off without telling her anything. (This part is my favorite) Ali runs into everybody that knows
