Behind every smile, there's a story of a personal struggle. (n.d) This quote demonstrates the fact that a person can be judged or misunderstood through misconceptions or gossip. Substance abuse is a serious and prevalent issue the world is facing as we speak, addiction is stealing the lives of people every single day. Substance abuse doesn’t just affect the user but the user's family. It is one mistake that could affect and change a life forever. Substance Abuse has taken a toll on the deaths and illnesses in the world. More and more people are losing their lives due to the substance they are using being contaminated or laced. God designed humans to be healthy beings to flourish and thrive with his love, and it is important he is met halfway. Research States, “Alcohol is one of the oldest drugs known and it affects virtually every organ system in the body.” (Brick, 2004, para 3). When a substance enters a human body it affects more than just the stomach, liver, or brain, it affects the entire body. Every human body was designed with a purpose and plan by God. This verse portrays the fact that it is very challenging when trials come up because the tendency to shy away from God is very easy. God's delivery helps keep eyes focused on him, and not on the temptations of the world. James 4:7 states, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (ESV) This verse is a guide on how to dwell with the sin and suffering of this world.
