Throughout my life, there have been moments of self-pride in my accomplishments; however, I can honestly say that my proudest achievement was when I was awarded the Daniel Award in my church for being the teenager with the most relentless service. I was proud of this achievement because serving in the church, especially the Kingdom Ambassadors Christian Center (KACC) Children’s department, was not an easy task. This award was the very first of its kind and I was speechless upon receiving it. Nevertheless, during my service, I occasionally felt like giving up due to the stress the job entailed, but I remained diligent and patient to the end. This achievement revealed my strong dedication, persistence, and ability to continue to work hard despite challenging situations. Collin Powell once said, “Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty, and persistence.” Anyone that has worked with children knows how arduous the task can be. When dealing with the children, I strived to continuously make my strategies more effective. I learned that young children have a short attention span, so having them remain still or in one position for a long lesson was simply impossible. This took a lot of focus and patience. Not having any assistance was probably the most challenging aspect of the job. Research shows that humans cannot do efficient work if they are trying to do several things at once. Hence, multitasking with the responsibility of more than ten children was not even worth considering. In many instances, I had two or three children that wanted to use the restroom but couldn’t leave the remaining children, so I would call for a bathroom break, and everyone would go.
