Cycles of Suffering – The True Mark of a Homeric Hero? Traditionally, in Homer’s Epic poem the Odyssey the eponymous hero Odysseus is perceived as one who’s positive qualities enable him to overcome a plethora of trials and achieve his goal of nostos – a return home. However, Odysseus’s function as the hero is not to achieve this goal but rather participate in the journey to reach nostos without ever truly finding succession. In this way, he is validated as a Homeric hero – one who is presented as destined to experience a cycle of suffering and overcoming tests, finding his only release in death.
Chapter nine is a valuable chapter, it discusses past Kings and some of their decisions along with who ruled by their side, either it being a Queen or a co-regent. In this also sheds light on some of the burial rituals and rules. Akhenaten, Tutankhamen's grandfather, turned away from the states gods during his rule, he decided to worship Aten. The change in beliefs is meaningful because it shows that if the Royal family decides to change who they worship and their belief so do the elites. Others weren't obligated to change their beliefs besides the elites; this shows how much power the King had during this period.
uddhism Beliefs In The Odyssey Suffering is a journey that allows people to grow and change in character. One of the things people all go through in life is suffering. In the Buddhist religion, a person has to travel a path that endures many challenges and suffering. This path includes many temptations and bait to lure a person off their trail.
During Odysseus’ decade-long journey to his home, he encounters many forms of suffering, the most prevalent being transformative in nature. Transformative suffering, which is typically caused by mortals, themselves, alters a mortal being; albeit physically, mentally, or emotionally. In the first few years of his journey, Odysseus suffers the loss of much of his crew. He loses men while plundering a small island; he loses some to the lotus esters; and a few to Polyphemus. Throughout all these sufferings, Odysseus learns that he should listen to the advice of others; thus, transforming him mentally and emotionally through these sufferings.
Athena is a major character throughout the book of The Odyssey and is known as the goddess of wisdom and battle. Throughout the course of the book, it is evident that Athena has a weak spot for the main character, Odysseus. Odysseus is trying to return home after the Trojan War, as the other Greek hero’s have already done, however he faces multiple challenges a long the way. Fortunately, for Odysseus, Athena was there to guide him through a few of these troubling situations.
Zues is my favorite greek god because he has 4 brothers and sisters. The brothers and sisters names are posedian,hades,hestia,hera. He has A wife named hera and a mother named rhea anda fauther named cronus. His chrildren are Aeacus, Angelos, Aphrodite, Apollo, Ares, Artemis, Athena, Dionysus, Eileithyia, Enyo, Eris, Ersa, Hebe, Helen of Troy, Hephaestus, Heracles, Hermes, Minos, Pandia, Persephone, Perseus, Rhadamanthus, the Graces, the Horae, the Litae, the Muses, the Moirai. I mostly like zues because ZEUS was the king of the gods, and god of the sky, weather, fate and law.
Perhaps one of the most defining characteristics of Christianity comes from Christians’ view of life as a journey. Jesus’s life, the standard for Christian living, ended up as a journey to the cross. Full of pain, these journeys offer solace in the hope of a happy ending, although uncertainty and pain lie between the believer and the end of the journey. Journeying home often becomes the main purpose of Christian journeys, while journeying from pain serves as an escape from unhealthy life experiences for Christians. However, the thirst for earthly desires and knowledge sometimes becomes a stumbling block for Christians.

During his trip to the underworld, Odysseus encounters numerous types of women. Homer tends to describe these women by detailing their attractiveness, successful kin, or scandalous sexual affairs with gods, but never by their own accomplishments. It appears that the only accomplishment Homer’s women can achieve is being remarkably attractive. For instance, Odysseus’ queen, Penelope, is admired because of her beauty and status as a newly single queen. The suitors show no inkling of respect for her.
Another ongoing theme we encounter in this story is death. Towards the end, Narcissus kind of accepts his fate by welcoming death. “If I could only escape from my own body! Recalling the story of Narcissus, he was an ancient Greek men that was punished by the vengeance goddess Nemesis for his contempt for women, the punishment was that he felt in love with himself is a reflection of a wellspring. after being punished, Narcissus all the time was staring his reflection in the wellspring and couldn’t separate with his reflection until one day he decided that he couldn’t separate of his reflection that he plunge himself into the wellspring waters and with it, killing himself. Knowing the story of Narcissus, Dorian Gray is the incarnation of Narcissus itself because Narcissus was a man knower by his love with itself and he was so in love with himself that he decided plunging himself and Dorian in a certain way he also

The Greek and Aztec people created their gods in order to explain natural occurrences and phenomenons in the world around them. In Greek culture, the gods looked and acted like humans and felt similar emotions, making them easily relatable, while the Aztec gods were viewed completely differently and were not similar to humans at all. She was being narcissistic because she didn 't think about any other goddess except her. A youth that is narcissistic is Narcissus. He was too narcissistic because he thought he was too good for any women.
