Sugar Informative Speech

Good morning, today I would like to inform you about the large amount of sugar in everyday food and the health risks involved. Hopefully, after hearing my speech you are aware of what you are eating and what it can do to your body, and make better food choices.
Firstly, in today’s society the sugar levels are incredibly high and due to these factors, people are having more than recommended. Some examples of high sugared food and drinks are coke (9g per 100g), up and go’s (19.3g per 250ml) and milk chocolate (52g per 100g). The daily recommended sugar intake is 25-37.5g. This shows that some food and drinks are half of our sugar intakes, while others are over the limit, causing people to consume more than recommended. Overall, this highlights …show more content…

Short term problems are weight gain, dead liver cells, trouble focusing and anxiety. Long teeffects are rotten teeth, type 2 diabetes, heart diseases, blocked arteries and early deaths. This clearly shows that sugar can do terrible things to your body and can heavily impact lives and futures. In conclusion, this shows that we should stick to our recommended intake to prevent health problems.
Thirdly, it’s important that we reduce the sugar in our diet especially when we are still young to make it a habit. This is because sugar is addictive and eating sugar regularly can damage your health, body and mind. If we were to decrease the amount of sugar we eat, we become healthier, our body would be in good shape and we would be much happier. Basically, it’s important to reduce our sugar intake so that we can be healthy and happy.
Finally, instead of having a bowl of Cheerios, have avocado toast with an egg and a cup of water. Teenagers should start making better food choice6s that are beneficial for them and low in sugar. Some low sugar foods and drinks are eggs, nuts, mushrooms, water, milk and whole grain bread. These options are better because they are low in sugar and have many vitamins and minerals such as calcium, iron and magnesium. If teenagers had better food choices that are low in sugar then they could have their nutrients without going over the daily intake limit; benefiting them
