Christian Worldview of Child and Adolescent Interventions.
Many different techniques are used to help clients achieve their desired therapy goals. The following five techniques are used to help clients achieve their goals:
Empty Chair Technique
The empty chair technique is derived from Gestalt therapy. This technique is referred to as an experiment and is used by having a client direct their attention to an empty chair and talk to the person they are trying to communicate with. One goal of the empty chair technique is that it helps clients become aware of their self-judgments and their responses to those judgments. Abert Bandura formed modeling through the principles of classical and operant conditioning. He says that people learn through behavioral observation (Henderson & Thompson, 2018). To use the modeling technique, the counselor can act out the behaviors through demonstration. Previous research has shown that children often mimic the behavior of another person after observing their behavior. Henderson and Thompson (2018) stated that modeling can be a treatment strategy for building complex skills. The skills that can be built through modeling are social skills such as making conversions, making new friends, and sustaining relationships. This therapy is similar to the Christian worldview because Christians are supposed to lead Christian life as an example. Christians do this by modeling behaviors, such as attending church regularly, praying every night, praying before every meal, and following Jesus Christ. However, there are other ways Christians can model the behavior of Christ and that is by joining fellowship and by joining Missions. Through missions, Christians share their testimony about how they decided to live the life of Christ. Another way that Christans model the behavior of Christ is by abstaining from sex until marriage, and not having a child outside of marriage. Baptists model Christian behavior by abstaining from drugs and alcohol. Catholics modeled the Chrstian worldview by participating in Ash Wednesday, which observes the Lent holiday. The ashes represent dust, and the father rubs the ashes on the person's forehead as a simple of dust is how humans were made and dust is how humans will return.
