Introduction Problem Statement Dallas Street Fashion (DSF) is a small brick-and-mortar business that specializes in designer clothing, handbags, and shoes for men and women. DSF has a single location with a total of five full-time and part-time employees. Presently, there is a small website that provide limited information on their products and does not allow for online purchases. DSF owner Georgia Adams is looking to grow her business through e-commerce. First, she wants to update her website not only to provide information on the DSF and their fashions, but also to sell their products online while, providing a safe and secure website. Along with its growth into e-commerce DSF wants a solution to control inventory, fulfill orders, and online payment processing, while increasing its customer base. Based on past studies an “omni-channel platform represents the most sustainable approach for small business owner undergoing difficulties such as technological and organizational changes” (Kim, Lee, & Ryu, 2018). Technology Requirements In order to find an effective solution for DSF a decision matrix was created that explores the possible technological resolutions. They have created a secondary website called www.BlueFlyClosetConfessions.com as an additional tool for social media. Bluefly’s Chief Marketing Officer states “with Closet Confessions we’re customizing social media for the fashion-obsessed.” (Though Leaders in E-Commerce, 2010) Cloud Computing HauteLook started in late 2007 with a “Sample Sale” according to one of its founders, Brett Markinson. It’s a flash-sale site, meaning it inventory is discounted and has limited availability for short periods of time. HauteLook uses Edge Cloud Platform by Fastly to deliver reliable customer experience that mitigate security threats and can be scaled on demand (Unveils Edge Cloud Platform, 2017). Technology Benefit After research both competitors, Bluefly and HauteLook, the company that benefited the most from is HauteLook. Even though Bluefly was first to market in 1998 and had a popular following HauteLook used of social media and cloud computing to spread their products news through chatrooms, emails, and on platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
