This program is a non-medical home care program that aids low-income seniors, adults and children with disabilities. This service pays for someone to go out to the client’s home and help with “chores.” There is also the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) that helps agencies plan, develop, and coordinate services for older adults 60 years of age or older. The AAA gets about 2 million dollars in grants and gives those funds to local non-profit agencies. The AAA funds more than a handful of services including; outreach, medals, legal services, family caregiver support and many more.
We received these statistics: “80 % see their grandchild at least once a month, 70% bought a gift and ate with their grandchild. 44% see a grandchild at least every week. 12% have no contact or very little with their grandchildren.” Maternal Grandmothers: experience more intimate roles than grandfathers, showing more affection and have more contact, more obvious with granddaughters. In her article “When Kids Play Across Gender Lines” CNN reporter, Emanuella Grinberg uses many elements to show why we should remove gender-specific toy marketing. Grinberg uses both fact and stories to develop her argument. Both of the stories Grinberg uses in her article support my argument that gender-specific marketing harms kids because it can ultimately lead to kids getting bullied. Her first story comes from author of Calling on Toy Retailers to Eliminate Gender-Based Marketing, Carrie Goldman. Grinberg then uses multiple points from Goldman’s book to support her argument.
The writer/director’s primary audience is the people who has seen/experiences a relationship with/ as a caregiver. Their secondary audience is the people who would enjoy a sarcastic film. Ultimately, they speak to young adults. “ALOHA: Ask, Listen, Observe, Help, Ask Again” This quote is one that is used in the introduction and always sneaks its way into the film as it progresses.
Ellen Goodman, in her article “The Granny Voters, Getting out the Vote” (September 11, 2014), implies that nowadays, politicians attempt to gain favoritism from senior citizens by suggesting stereotypical ideas regarding their future, rather than their grandchildren’s. Goodman develops her point by heavily using pathos to highlight the value of children while asserting sarcastic remarks. Her purpose is to promote the message behind her newly formed group, “GrannyVoter”, in order to influence grandparents to publicly speak out their values beside “social security, prescription drugs, and medicine” and the changes they truly want to see. Goodman formulates an informal relationship with her audience of grandparents who are not pleased with the
I enjoyed reading this article because it was very informative about the program of intergenerational playgroup. Prior to this article I knew of IPP, but after reading about a research study and it is statistical evidence about how effective the program can be it is hard not to be interested. This article was a learning experience for me as a professional and as a person because I may not work with older adults right away after I graduate it gives me a good foundation. The population is growing older and older and you will come in contact with older adults sooner or later in life so it is important to have a wide variety of skills in that setting. All of the benefits that this particular program offers for older adults with and without dementia
One sweltering, stifling hot afternoon in July, I had the immense privilege of participating in Share-the-Lake Day as one of my first volunteer events being a member of the National Honor Society. Share-the-Lake Day is an annual sponsored event that offers nursing home inhabitants an outdoor lunch and a day out on the lake. I have always enjoyed spending time with elderly people because I find their wisdom and experience to be incredibly intriguing and fascinating. I loved listening to their stories of which they were extremely content to share. To see their eyes dance as they recounted a fond memory from their youth or witness their excitement when I mentioned various thoughts of mine that reminded them of a favorite family member or close
In “Children Need to Play, Not Compete,” Jessica Statsky shines a light on a pressing issue about competitive sports and how participating in it at a young age has negative effects on children. Statsky talks about the damage caused by these sports both physically and mentally and how the pressure and stress become too much to bear for the growing children. The extreme physical activity demanded by these sports but an unnecessary strain on their bodies. Statsky highlights the fact that these sports due to their demanding nature can result in serious injuries which can take years to heal back up. As these games are originally designed for adult, children should not be allowed to play them.
The text describes eldercare as a "family process. " Explain this

1.If you have (or have had) grandparents, or older adults in your life who fulfilled the role of grandparent, identify the various roles that these individuals have played or are currently playing in your life. My grandparents have tremendously impacted my life with constant warmth, love, affection, and motivation. They have served as caregivers when my parents were at work, so I began to build some sort of attachment toward my grandparents. When I was younger, for example, I would ride the school bus to my grandparents’ house after my classes while my parents were at work.
Unfortunately, the eighty-seven percent of African American informal elder caregivers who do not self-identify as such may unintentionally hamper the receipt of much needed support from formal eldercare providers and health care professionals. Based on the lack of caregiver self-identification, formal eldercare providers and health care professionals may not acknowledge them in that capacity as well, and not consider the caregiver as part of the care recipients’ care team. If this is assumed by formal eldercare providers and health care professionals, this may trigger an appraisal that the African American elder caregiver has no decision-making authority concerning their care recipient, which may lead to marginalization. Another disadvantage
Child’s Play, written by Higuchi Ichiyo, is a short novel centred around the growth of children, particularly those associated with the pleasure quarters. The story takes place over a few days, nevertheless, we are given an idea on the backgrounds of the three main characters, Shōta, Midori, and Nobu, and watch them gradually lose their childlike innocence. Although not explicitly stated, the last three paragraphs suggest that all three protagonists have followed the footsteps of their parents and in Midori’s case, her older sister. This essay discusses the impending tragic future of children who are destined to take after the occupations of their family.
