Everything Leads To You is a novel written by Nina LaCour, published in 2014. Nina LaCour grew up in San Fransisco, her first job was at fourteen in a locally owned bookstore. The story follows a girl named Emi Price on an adventure through LA that changes her life forever. Emi’s brother goes out of town and leaves her his apartment for the summer, however he requires that she use his apartment for something epic while he is gone. When Emi and her best friend find a strange letter at the estate sale of a well known actor, they set off to find the intended recipient. I really enjoyed this book and I actually ended up reading it through twice because I appreciated the story so much.

My favorite character in the story was Ava. I found her character particularly intriguing because she was very mysterious, until about half way through the book she is a hypothetical, discussed but never described. My favorite thing about Ava was her passion for acting. Support this with at least two moments in the book where the character demonstrated these attributes. One moment she demonstrated this was on page 183 when she had all of her lines memorized for the read through. Another moment was on 212 when she first sees the set of her characters apartment and she uses the set to help her get into character.

My least favorite part about her was the fact that she emotionally manipulated Emi and guilt tripped her for not wanting to be together. One moment that she demonstates this is on page 2 when she is texting and calling Emi saying she was upset after she broke up with Emi. Another moment is on page 64 when she makes Emi feel bad for not wanting to go out after she had already broken up with Emi 5
