The book giver was a novel written by lois Lowry, takes place in a community where all the people living there are color blinds which means they can’t see any colors but black and white. Jonas the protagonist and Giver is the only one who sees an ideal world without a conflict, poverty, feelings, emotions, inequality, or injustice. This is told with a deceptive simplicity, of a boy who experiences something incredible and undertakes into something impossible. One theme the novel suggests is that when there is love, there is always a sense of pain” and you can show this in a lot of part of the book.

He gives up and take out a chance that he might live and be warm if he didn't give all the powers to Gabriel. However, he instead puts him into a hard and dangerous position which lead him be half dead later in the book. This showed how much he loved Gabriel and how confident and encouraging he was. This also showed how loving people and helping them out, could lead you into a danger position but it is worth it.
Before Jonas and Gabriel left to the elsewhere, Jonas gets into a little confusion with the Giver. In chapter 20, page 162 when the giver has told Jonas that he loves him but wants to rather be with his daughter. Jonas feels pain because he thought the Giver would come with him. And all was because Jonas also loved the Giver very much. The author said, “I’m grateful to you, Jonas because without you I would never have figured out a way to bring about the change. But your role now is to escape, and my role is to stay.” How these lines that the Giver said pains Jonas a lot is because he had thought that Giver always loved him and was open to be with him for rest of their life. However, things always don’t go positive ways. In page 162, Giver says, “I love you Jonas. But I have another place to go. When my work here is finished, I want to be with my daughter.” because the giver never told Jonas that he had a daughter but a spouse, jonas felt a lot of pain. This showed love and pain because the fact Jonas had been feeling that giver loved him the whole time and would be with him now suddenly changes into a black box. He finds out that giver actually had a daughter as well as he won't be coming with
