Hephaestus' Great Peril

It was the second Great War and Gaea’s forces were stronger than ever before. The earth goddesses minions had already overturned many minor gods and Hephaestus knew that he was next in line for the one-way trip down Tartarus, the pit that very few gods have came out of whole.

“The god of blacksmiths will not be overturned by some titans and a few boulders!” Hephaestus thought angrily as he set up his most famous trap, an indestructible net, above the main entry to the blacksmithery

“ I'm going to miss this place” Hephaestus told all of his automatons, who were all sitting and quietly watching him.

“But master, Gaea’s forces could never get past all of the traps that you set last evening, especially the Greek Fire mines you set. In fact, I would particularly enjoy watching them try!” Verbumas, Hephaestus’ only talking automaton, said in a completely unnatural and jerky way.

“That is not the voice that I have grown to know and love,” Hephaestus said stiffening “The voice that I know is smooth and quiet,almost like a lullaby. This jerky and unnatural voice is no work of mine”

“What in Zeus’ name do you mean?” Verbumas asked nonchalantly

“Who are you and what do you want here?” Asked Hephaestus accusingly
