What moral standards should we oblige in order to save our species and prolong the Earth? It all depends on how we are changing our ways and setting boundaries to the people who want to make a difference. There are very intelligent people who spoke up to make a difference because they see that this is not the way we should be living. Each individual started to see these people speak their minds and thanks to them we are coming as one to make these changes. In the article “The Pros and Cons of the United States ‘Going Green’: Is Environmental Consciousness Really All Good?” by Winters he states “With the introduction of new laws that force companies to find green alternatives come up with inventive plans that increase productivity, quality, …show more content…
I agree with the investment we can make not only that but we are helping ourselves and the Earth. “…we can solve climate change, invest in a clean energy future, and save billions in imported oil” and by this we can start by grasping a better future in front of us and our children’s future as well. But, with all these assumptions we become skeptical. According to Samuelson “…Environmental Defense Fund and other environmentalists… rely on economic simulations by “general equilibrium” models.” The truth is that they assume the wrong way because “There are no business cycles; the economy is always at “full employment”; strong growth is assumed, based on past growth rates; the economy automatically accommodates major changes…” which I agree because no matter what every business or company are always hiring. It’s well known because not one business will not hire because they want to expand not become extinct. They are scared of the strong growth because when they see them doing well they want to intrude and rain on their parade. But, really it’s good that we are expanding as a nation because we open up more opportunities. So, if fossil fuel prices were to rise consumers will quickly use less and the new supply of “clean energy’ will magically materialize. According to Samuelson one of the economists at Massachusetts Institute of Technology found that most transportation needs in 2050 with the production of biofuels would require 500 million acres of U.S. land more than the current U.S. cropland, America would become a net food importer. In that case I think it’s a good thing the America will be a net food importer because instead of importing the bad we are actually going to do the right thing. The only concern is if this process were to happen as soon as it can
