The second article, “Is Lying Bad For Us?” by Richard Gunderman is a more persuasive and cohesive article than the initial article titled “We’re All Lying Liars: Why People Tell Lies, and Why White Lies Can Be OK” by Ulrich Boser.
Both of these forementioned articles were well-written and raised some good points to the discussion of the meaning and morals of lying, the second article “Is Lying Bad For Us” was more focused on the positive and how people can potentially become happier and live more fulfilling lives if the effort is used to tell the truth more often and live with pure and truthful relationships. The strength of the second article was also supported by the opening use of an epigraph, a strong quote relating to the topic that catches the reader’s eye. “There are mental and physical consequences, but we should strive to live more truthfully, regardless, to understand reality.” (Richard Gunderman, The Atlantic, 2017) …show more content…

It is morally acceptable to tell certain white lies because it does not cause problems within oneself or cause any major issue with the people surrounding them. An example of the weakness of a white lie comes from the first article as stated, “When telling white, or social, lies, they usually don’t feel any anxiety at all” (Ulrich Boser, 2017). This lack of anxiety is from the fact that this white lie doesn’t directly impact anybody positively or negatively, meaning the accuracy of the statement isn’t very important.
