Technology is changing the way people around the world can learn. In the article, “The Year Of The MOOC” , Laura Pappano discusses MOOCs which are massive open online courses. After reading each student’s essays James Gregory should take MOOCs. Gregory should take a MOOC because he is responsible, doesn’t like attention, and his very helpful. These online courses are designed for people like him. Gregory should take MOOCs because his dependability would help him succeed. Gregory is good at taking control of things. He has said himself, “I work behind the scenes, holding it all together, keeping all the ingredients organized and focused on their task” ( Gregory 14 ). Gregory could construct a study group which is often needed while taking MOOCs, “….study groups or social sessions. Membership may be many or sparse” ( Pappano 28 ). Gregory is shy and doesn’t want to be the center of attention, so what's better than taking classes in the comfort of his home. Unlike MOOCs, “ Traditional online courses charge tuition, carry credit and limit enrollment to a few dozen to insure interaction with instructors.
