Killing” the short story by Andre Dubis was interesting from the beginning to the end. Spoiler it is about to murders but if you look behind the murders it could also be a love story. The loving father Matt is at the funeral of his son. The entire story I was trying to put myself inside of Matt’s shoes and thinking about what I would want for my future children and if someone killed him and the potential I had dreamed of for years that he would achieve. Matt would envision the night his son was killed several times throughout the story and this is just a reminder that Matt wanted his son back in any form in this case it was in memory. Matt cared for his dead son but also the living people around him and when something that tragic happens it is sometimes really hard to remember that there are other people still here with you. …show more content…
Dubis lets us see Franks murder with a flashback it states “Strout came in the front door and shot Frank twice in the chest and once in the face with a 9mm automatic.”(Dubis 112) The flashback allows the reader to feel for Matt who would soon get the revenge he thought was right for the situation. Matt kills Strout and he does it to make himself feel like there was justice for his son’s death. Matt also kills Strout because all of his small pleasures in life were now lessened by his son not being able to go with him which brought on depression a less fulfilling life for Matt. Matt just felt like Strout messed up his life and in return killing Strout will mess up Mary Ann and the kid life so they can suffer a death like he
