Diversity is the key element and is at the heart of providing patient-centered care. Implementing diversity into recruitment initiatives increases the scope for a wider range of attributes that individuals are looking for from an employer and these initiatives are much needed to drive the change that builds the competitive advantage in today’s healthcare market. But there are several barriers that healthcare organizations are facing to implement these initiatives like financial constraints, tight timelines in recruitment and finding qualified professionals (Supple and Williams, 2016). Healthcare sector has a major share of individuals that are physically involved in patient care and it is tricky to provide these benefits in such situations. Global healthcare company Roche has a unique flexible work program, offering employees 12 days of remote work per quarter to its employees to be with their family when needed (Stuckey, 2015) and such initiatives in small portions can contribute to a bigger value.
• Onsite prayer rooms and cultural activities on special occasions based on the employee population, encouraging participation and understanding of diverse groups is a way to attract and retain more minorities.

Diversity is no longer just having a mixture of a heterogeneous group of people but also using them for effective innovation giving a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
