According to John Rico, soldiers take photos because they want to remember what actually happens during war. Rico says, “The desire to document surreal experiences is a normal human motivation. “ When the topic of war is mentioned, an immediate image of fighting, blood, missiles, and guns might be the picture that comes to mind. This picture could be the results of searching “war” on Google. What must be taken into account is that these are real people, just like you and me. They have families, friends, feelings, and lives of their own. Their duty requires them to protect our country in any way needed, even if that means losing their lives. In King’s article, Why We Crave Horror Movies, he talks about watching scary movies and, “…fun comes from seeing others menaced – sometimes killed.” Although movies are scary, King suggests that they provide pleasure. This pleasure might be sick and twisted, but it stimulates the brain. Similarly, if everyone is insane, then how insane one is becomes what the world says about them. A pedophile is known for being a mentally-ill person, whereas someone who plays with their hair does not get any attention. King is trying to explain that everyone is insane but everyone expresses it differently. Horror movies interest everyone in some way, because we are all insane.
According to Wikipedia, John Rico can creditably speak about why soldiers take photos. Rico was once in the U.S. Army for himself, and speaking from experience is one of the best advice methods used today. Also according to Wikipedia, Stephen King can also creditably speak about craving horror movies. King is an author of horror books. If King expresses what stimulates himself to write and enjoy horror books, then he can be a credible source for why people like horror
