Susan Milligan Wrote an article “The Evolution of the F-Word.” The article is published on the US news website, in which it discusses the evolution of the idea of feminism, and the significant movements that made feminism what is it today. The article published January 20, 2017. Milligan starts off by introducing the history of the word “feminist,” she explains how it was derived and how it started. Throughout the article, she launched the 1963 release of Betty Friedan's "The Feminist Mystique," a book widely credited with spurring what was then called the Women's Liberation Movement. As the women’s rights movement started to grow, it became a significant influence, so did the word feminist. Milligan is comparing how people viewed feminism back in the day. It is stated in the article that a conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh referred to feminists as “feminazis,” emphasizing the degradation, and the shame for believing in gender equality. The term “feminist” has gone through so much sabotaging by misinterpreting and misunderstanding what it meant, until the word began to revive again and have a real meaning to it Milligan explained.
