Have you read the book “Everything Will Be Okay” by James Howe? The main character in this book is James. James is a very caring person towards animals because he cares about how they live and about them, he wants to heal and take care of the kitten he found, and last, he doesn't want to hunt and eat animals. James has a warm heart, he cares for animals and would do anything to help them. James helped a kitten he found, even though it was sick and dirty. He just wanted to heal it. James said, “Everything will be okay. That's why James did not want to hunt or eat animals. James does not wants to hunt or eat animals because he cares for their lives. Even though they are animals, he believes they have a life in them. James thinks, “I do not want to kill animals.” (pg.38) It doesn't make sense that James does, but doesn't want to hunt animals. James cares for them. He just wants to go so his father likes him. “When I'm older, I will go hunting with my father the way my brothers have done. I try not to think about this. I want to go, because I want my father to like me. But I don't want to kill animals.” (pg.38) James doesn't want to hunt or eat animals because he doesn't like seeing animals being hurt or dead. He doesn't like the way people treat animals. “I couldn't eat. The thought of venison made me want to throw up.” (pg.39) It wasn't only because eating the meat was gross, it was also because he knew that the deer was hurt.
