In David Hackett Fischer’s book, “Washington’s Crossing”, he describes the troubles and even the unknowns of Washington’s experiences during the Revolutionary War. The book Newtown by Matthew Lysiak is about a school shooting in a little town called Newtown. This shooting takes place at Sandy Hook Elementary School on the day of December 14, 2012. Adam Lanza, alumni of Sandy Hook, was the murderer responsible for the loss of twenty children and six adults. This book tells of the goodbyes on the day of the shooting of families who lost their loved ones, the life of Adam Lanza, the shooting itself, and the aftermath of the shooting.
My theory on The Westing Game is Flora Baumbach is the killer. I believe she is the killer because she was super excited when she found out Turtle was here partner (pg. 33). Her next victim could be Turtle for kicking her in the shin. She also would want to kill Sam because of his daughter's wedding.

David Marrella 3/18/2017 Anth 0833 Prof. Hilary Symes Understanding Africville The community of Africville is a neighborhood located in Halifax that saw much oppression during the mid 1960’s ultimately leading to it’s destruction and relocation of residents. Jennifer Nelson, author of “Panthers or Thieves”: Racialized Knowledge and the Regulation of Africville, claims in her essay that racial inferiority, criminality, and social deviance of the poor, was used to illustrate the community as a slum in need of removal (Nelson 2011:121). Tina Loo, in her work, “Africville and the Dynamics of State Power in Postwar Canada” also provides her analysis of Africville.
There are many different themes exemplified by Ellen Raskin throughout The Westing Game novel. An important theme in the novel is relationships. All of the heirs have different relationships with one another, but Turtle and Sandy's relationship was consistent until the end of the novel. They first met on page 7, where Sandy tells Turtle, Doug, and Theo a story about Sam Westing. Sandy and Turtle never connected then, but later in the novel they have the strongest relationship out of all the heirs.
Growing Up Young Loss of innocence is when one is unaware of evil surrounding them especially in children of a young age. Saul remembers his traumatic past experiences and feels better when he talks it through with someone. In the novel, Indian Horse, by Richard Wagamese, Saul is stripped of his innocence, which in turn makes him more violent and causes him to turn to alcohol to cope with and escape from his troubles. Loss of innocence at a young age can forcibly take away one’s dreams, ultimately leading to a life of negativity. Hockey was the only source Saul was able to rely on, but with all the racism and his traumatic past, he is unable to pursue his passion for hockey.
The way he talks about the black slave’s actions towards the whites and how blacks have a kinder soul than the whites. He says that “… there is a solemn awe in the hearts of blacks, as it respects murdering men: whereas the whites, (though they are great cowards) …, they murder all before them…” (pg. 24). In the story, he tells about the black woman helping the white man runaway this how he explains it. He sees that even though blacks have that kind part in them that to live and go against the whites being nice ever so little will hurt the whole operation. This article really spoke to the blacks about unity and that the only way to achieve that is to only care for one another and not the whites.
Richard the Lionheart is one of the most famous of kings, if not the most, in England and France. He was born on September 8, 1157 and died on April 6, 1199. He is mainly known for his part in the Third Crusade attempting to free Jerusalem from Muslim control. Although he had a large and important role in Medieval Europe, it is usually romanticized to increase the heroism of Richard. Richard’s prowess as a military leader, his benevolence and his sense of responsibility were all greatly exaggerated.

Their fear lied in the way that they dressed so differently than those who considered themselves “white.” It was in their loud music, and harsh language. It was in the violence on the streets and in the way a mother would wail on her child. All of this grew due to fear for their own bodies.
“The Crucible” is a fiction story that took place in a small town called Salem in the state of Massachusetts in 1692 during the spring time. The plot of this story is about a group of girls who went into the forest led by a black slave named Tituba. They were all dancing in the forest until Reverend Parris caught them dancing in the forest and even saw one of the girl naked. Parris’s daughter Betty who was there in the forest falls into a coma-like state when Reverend Parris caught them. Reverend Parris only noticed his daughter was sick the next day and accused Abigail William, who is Reverend Parris’s niece, of witchery and caused his daughter to go into a coma-like state.
Following the death, his mother decides to move them into their grandparent’s house in New York, hoping this will make things a little less challenging.
