Those who were prosecuted were innocent, and all of their deaths were because of false accusations made by people who had ridiculous beliefs and superstitions about witches and their personal paranoia. Those who lived in Salem believed in the devil and those who could communicate with the devil. They believed that those who studied witchcraft or those who were suspected of witchcraft should be sought out and prosecuted.
