Alzheimer's is a type of dementia that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. It is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States, and recklessly growing at a fast pace, in that every sixty-seven seconds, someone in the United States develops Alzheimer’s. ("Latest Facts & Figures Report | Alzheimer's Association., n.d.) The worst part of Alzheimer’s is not what occurs in the present, but instead, in what is yet to come. In “Jan’s Story,” the author and main protagonist of the tale, Barry Peterson, learns how to cope and live with the pain of The Disease, on a heartbreaking journey of love, loss, and the true test of how far will one go for whom they love.
In the story, “Alice” by Shel Silverstein many inferences about can be made about being courageous and taking chances can be made. To start, silverstein expresses “she changed while other folks tried nothin at all.” this suggest that this metaphor is used to show Alice is different in the way she does things because, she took risks which some people strive to do but don 't. Overall, the theme of Alice is to be courageous and to try taking risks to be different and to.-I 've your own life. Still Alice was a book that really made me think about the struggles one has to go through when they have Alzheimer’s and how they would have to adapt to their new life. This book had me look at my own life and how much it would change if I were to get Alzheimer’s. Still Alice had me wondering how I would deal with my mother having this disease like Lydia did. I had always known that Alzheimer’s was a terrible. I’ve seen the sad movies and maybe I brushed it off, but Still Alice still has me thinking.

After a couple of appointments and a battery of tests were administered, Alice was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s. Her doctor requested that Alice starts bringing another person to her appointments with her as she may not have a complete understanding of her limitations. However, Alice fights the idea that she will soon lose control of her life and wants to hold on to her independence for as long as possible. In a moment of impulse, Alice tells her husband, John all the details of what has been happening to her and that she has Alzheimer’s.
Alice in Zombieland by Gena was an interesting novel. Although the story started off upsetting, I still enjoyed it. What I liked about Alice in Zombieland is that, despite the fact that Alice did not understand exactly what it was that she was fighting against she still fought to protect herself and her family (Showalter, pg. 79). That even when she discovered that the monsters she was fighting were zombies she continued to fight wanting to protect innocent people (pg.176). Zombies are “spirits who have been infected and have risen from their human bodies” (pg.184).

Anyone who had heard of Alice in Wonderland as a child simply know Wonderland as a realm of madness. However, as we mature, we are more informed of our world’s past and present traumatic events such as the Holocaust, World War I, The Cold War, etc., we would see nothing interesting in it because our world is already a big chaotic mess masked in a civilization trying to convince that their hot mess self is alright. However, an immortal thing that’ll always defy our world’s atrocities is nothing further from that childish nostalgia that let us be the most relaxed us and escape the brutality of earthly matters. As I pace the floor of our little kitchen leading into the living room, my once graceful hands move with fierce velocity as I berate Alice, who sits on a stool with her head hanging low. With my thick hair hanging loose, it doesn't create the flowing banner Alice's did so many months ago, however, the cause of my fury coincides with hers. The discovery of her relationship with Mario left with further questions, but she was too drunk to answer any of them, intensifying my frustration. All night, I wrestled with my emotions as I tried to comprehend her secrets and actions, perplexing me further. The moment she emerged from her room, my anger erupted and has yet to cease.
Imagine a close family member finding out they have cancer. Most people would be devastated, but my mom concurred through it and continued to brighten everyone’s day, D. Thesis- Even through her journey of cancer, my mom kept a smile on her face and continued to inspire people. E. Preview of Main Points- Cancer not only made my mom realize how lucky she was, but it also pushed her to become a better person.
