In The Outsiders by S.E Hinton is a realistic fiction story about two, different gangs in Tulsa Oklahoma. There are the Greasers, who are the lower-class teens in their home town, and the Socs, privileged kids from wealthy families. The narrator and protagonist of the story, Ponyboy Curtis and his gang brother, Johnny Cade, become involved in the killing of a Soc when they are attacked in the park one night. The two Greasers go on the run, hiding out in an abandoned church, before they plan on turning themselves in to the police. Just as they are about to do so, their shelter, the church, catches on fire. Pony, Johnny and their fellow greaser, Dallas Winston, saves the children inside.
