In St. Lucy’s Home for Girls Raised by Wolves, a group of 15 girls were introduced to the home. In the story, only a few of those girls were focused on. This is because they wanted to show the range of development between the girls. Some never learned how to be civilized and human, and others did very well on learning how to be human. The story mainly focuses on Claudette, Mirabella, and Jeanette.
In Wolf Hollow by Lauren Wolk, there is a new girl named Betty and she is a horrible person. Her cruelty exceeds normal bullying; when she is close to dying, she tells a lie that ends up killing the town vagrant, Toby. Betty’s bullying built up over time, starting with small threats of bruises and a lie that led to the killing of an innocent man. It starts with Betty making threats to Annabelle about her family, and then Annabelle ends up with a bruise. She is so mean that she gets shipped to a different town because of how cruel she is and Annabelle says “She was described as incorrigible, a word I had to look up in the big dictionary at the school house”(Wolk 5).

The Thing in the Forest by A.S. Byatt is a fairytale like story that takes place during World War II. It captivates its reader with a mysterious lack of detail, keeping the fairytale aspect up to the imagination. Through symbolism, metaphors, and juxtaposing character development, Byatt shows how war and trauma kills childhood innocence. This story is about two young girls, Penny and Primrose, who are sent away from home during World War II for safety.
Last Child in the Woods Essay In the Last Child in the Woods, Richard Louv argues about the separation between people and nature. He asserts that technology is taking over our lives and how that is going to affect the future. His purpose is to draw the reader 's attention to show how important nature is and how we have become so separated from our surroundings because of technological uprisings. Richard Louv is expressing his feelings of the lack of children experiencing the outdoors to the audience of parents and adolescents.

The novel starts in 1984, in a small town near Dublin, Ireland. Three kids go to the forest to play, but only 1 comes out with a ripped-up shirt, shoes full of blood, and no memory of what happened in this forest. 20 years later, a girl is found dead, in the same exact forest and ironically the lead detective was the kid who survived 20 years ago with a ripped-up shirt and bloody shoes, Ryan. Ryan and his partner investigate the murder of Katy Devlin who was only 12 years old. Most of the novel is Cassie and Ryan investigating possible suspects, because there are so many.
The book and dvd "The Secret" has become popular with people I work with lately. I viewed the dvd and was disappointed to find out that it really is no secret. I've been hearing this stuff most of my life. Maybe it is because I was raised as a Christian.
Into The Woods The musical “Into the Woods” by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine is a metaphor for life in many ways, but the most prominent one is the woods symbolizing life itself. The prologue song “Into The Woods” is about each of the character’s dreams and wishes. Cinderella wishes to go to the festival, Little Red Riding Hood wants to deliver bread to Granny, and the Baker and his wife want to have a child, even though the witch cursed their lineage.
“I Was Sleeping Where the Black Oaks Move” written by Louise Erdrich focuses on a child and a grandfather horrifically observing a flood consuming their entire village and the surrounding trees, obliterating the nests of the herons that had lived there. In the future they remember back to the day when they started cleaning up after the flood, when they notice the herons without their habitat “dancing” in the sky. According to the poet’s biographical context, many of the poems the poet had wrote themselves were a metaphor. There could be many viable explanations and themes to this fascinating poem, and the main literary devices that constitute this poem are imagery, personification, and a metaphor.
