What I found very interesting is the fact that the main character of the book a simple cotton t-shirt which symbolizes a complex autobiography. Discussing about International Trade can be challenging at times, especially if your audience is not familiar with the specific topic. Moreover, a book about the influence of politics on industry might not be very appealing to read or sound abstract to some. Coming back to the main point, all the detailed information about the life cycle of this 6 dollars t-shirt was well -written. She argues about the immense volume of imports and exports to and from United States. She frames one of the main reasons why U.S. industry cannot compete anymore only within United States. Now the market is being over populated by cheaper clothing from other countries. To her, globalism is a phenomenon that hides issues, not just in United States but around the world as well. Rivoli is not necessarily against globalization but she strongly supports the idea of the government being more liable for the trade levels. This is only in support if the nation and people benefit from it. Rivoli tries to be objective when she raises questions about globalization in general and international trade. She perceives globalization as an unavoidable trap.
