MOOC allows anyone to join, it’s free, and it’s online. Compared to traditional colleges you would have to pay tuition and have to physically go to a classroom, be face-to-face and be social. But MOOC is becoming very popular with about 370,000 students this fall for the first official courses.
Murray is not arguing that the four year degree is completely useless for everyone, instead he insists that the four year degree works for people who want to get a liberal arts education. He claims that students who want a liberal arts education are the minority. This summary is about Linda Lee’s essay “The Case against College”. Lee has several great points about life and how college isn’t for everybody. In Should The Obama Generation Drop Out Charles Murray talks about the flaws found in the Obama education plan . He brings to the attention of the public the fact that many student in America graduate lacking the skills necessary for the proper college education. Murray goes on to argue that in today 's society students who graduate from High-school go on to technical college to pursue a vocational education in their field of study; whereas, older generations have pursued an all around education, enrolling in classes that were irrelevant to the career they were pursuing. Murray claims that if you test the vast majority of Americans (including himself) in the more rigorous subjects, they would most likely fail. Murray mentions that he does

Liz Addison’s essay, “Two Years Better Than Four,” was first published in the New York Times Magazine back in September of 2007. Addison went to two community colleges and majored in biology; earning her degree in 2008. In her essay, she is responding to Rick Perlstein's article “What’s the Matter with College?” in which he claims, “College as America used to understand it is coming to an end” (211). Addison refutes Perlstein’s claims by saying, “My guess, reading between the lines, is that Mr. Perlstein has never set foot in an American community college” (212).

High school students looking to graduate encounter difficult decisions, and when making those decisions they need to look forward to hypothesize the outcome. America generally believes that a college degree is basically a requirement just for entering the working middle class. People being educated can be a great influence to people in today’s society. Charles Murray believe that a college degree is like a “a price ticket for employees”. The two reasons Murray says is that “employees do not value what students learned, just that the student has a degree” the other reason is “employees do not even look at applicants who have no college degree”. In my opinion, I agree with Murray’s claim that four year college is not worth, job satisfaction for intrinsic reward, and the dark side of the Bachelor's degree. In my view, Murray’s is right, because college requires student to take 32 courses in four years or longer and not all courses are relate to the field they study with. More specifically, I believe that four years college will take more time to achieve our goal and knowledges doesn’t teach us how to make a living in our society. Murray described in his article, “More people should be getting the basic of a liberal education. But for most students, the places to provide those basics are elementary and middle school” (235).
Writer Sawhill states that “we are not able to predict which college degrees can give you the highest net benefit based upon your unique strengths, weaknesses and interest.” Sawhill is correct about not being able to predict the best degree because, as she may not be aware, of the resources and assessments at Colleges and Universities that help you layout the key dimensions to be successful in school. She most definitely has credibility in the field she is writing in. Her article was first published on February 20th 2015. She argues in her article, that with a higher grade of education you will in turn make more money. She also states that even with the high cost of a degree, that college still pays off. College does not just allow one to become economically effective, but it permits them to partake in a healthy life beyond them.

Once you look past the recent unemployment rate for college grads, you’ll find that a college degree proves to be highly beneficial once placed in a career. Degree holders often enjoy benefits such as higher pay, higher-skilled work, and an intellectual advantage over their coworkers that do not have a degree. These benefits often outweigh the seemingly outrageous cost of college, making the price tag more than worth it.
