The book Rainbow High by Alex Sanchez is about three boys named Nelson, Kyle, and Jason are seniors in high school. As they are getting ready for college, they have to find a way to come out. Kyle and Jason are together and Nelson has a boyfriend named Jeremy, sadly after discovering Jeremy is HIV positive and Nelson is not, this causes many conflicts in their relationship, and Nelson has to try and fix it. Jason decided to come out to his coach, but is now worried he will not get his scholarship to Tech, he has to find a way to come out to everyone but still be eligible for the scholarship and win championship for basketball. I think the author does a good job creating a story with good realistic problems, and does a good job wrapping up.
The Pact The book that I read over the summer is called The Pact and the author is Sampson Davis, George Jenkins, and Rameck Hunt. The book is very good in my opinion and this book is mostly about a group of boys and the how their lives changed throughout the story. The boys names are Rameck, George, and Sam they are very good friends throughout the book. They all had problems either with their families like no dads or smoking problems and they had problems with their friends like hurting people or drinking/smoking.

Boys to Men In the essay What Does “Boys Will Be Boys” Really Mean, the author Deborah Roffman explains how people perceive and classify boys to be extremely messy in their actions and continuously receive passes for their unacceptable behavior. In the essay How Boys Become Men, the statement “Boys Will Be Boys” expresses how the rules boys set for themselves in their childhood unintentionally effects the decisions they make in their adulthood. The two essays focus on different situations but they come together with the same opinion about men and boys; of whom they focus on the most. One essay focuses mainly on how boys behave and the reason why people classify them the way they do, whereas, the other essay focuses on the effects of how boys learn to behave a certain way and grows into adolescents with the same behavior.
Chapter 5: Bradley meets Jeff and is surprised that Jeff seems to want to be friends with him. However, Bradley is suspicious of Jeff's intentions. Chapter 6: Bradley invites Jeff over to his house, but things don't go well. Bradley's mother is overbearing and embarrassing, which makes Bradley feel ashamed. Chapter 7: Bradley and Jeff's friendship continues to grow, but Bradley is still struggling with his behavior and is sent to the principal's office.
The book I have chosen to review is Boy 21, a fictional read that is written by Matthew Quick. Quick is a New York Times best-selling author debuting in novels such as The Silver Linings Playbook and Love May Fail. To best describe this book, it is a captivating read that is comforting for the mind, as it canvasses the raw and unflinching life of a high school senior who displays love for basketball and life relationships. Furthermore, set in a troubled Belmont city of Philadelphia, Quick incorporates the presence of mobs and violence which is captivating towards the reader and audience. I was intrigued about how the novel was written through Finley the main protagonist, which was Quick’s childhood perspective of life in Philadelphia and his passion towards basketball.

As they spend the day together, they begin to realize their flaws and how much alike they are. The character I will focus on is Andrew Clark. He is a jock, the athlete on the wrestling team. He seems to enjoy his status as an athlete and has a high self-esteem because of that status. Andrew seems to feel like he needs to protect everyone but is hot-tempered.
The book I chose to read for my book review was “ Killing Mr.Griffin”. It is about 5 high school students who hate their english teacher Mr. Griffin and come up with a plan to kidnap him. Their main purpose is to just torture and make Mr. Griffin think he is going to die. The plan takes a tragic turn and results in Mr. Griffin's death. The plan simply falls apart in a domino effect of terror and grief.
My book is Heaven is Paved with Oreos, By Catherine Gilbert Murdock. Summary: Sara Zorn is an average 14-year-old girl. She’s smart, funny, awkward, shy. Sara has a crush on her best guy-friend, Curtis Schwenk, but doesn’t realize it, saying she isn’t a “boy-liker”.
In Mark Twain’s short story “The Story of the Good Little Boy” he describes a little boy being good by trying to make the bad little boys became good resulting in himself being bad. Twain's real name is Samuel Clemens and he worked at many jobs when he was eleven to help support his family when his father died. He was trained to be a steamboat pilot on the Mississippi River and piloted boats professionally. This story is about Jacob Blivens who always obeys his parents and was a good boy who studies books and school. His Sunday-school book is his guide to became a good little boy when he tries to help the bad little boys to become good but it always got him in trouble.
Book review – Boyhood The novel ‘’ boyhood ‘’ (1997) is written by the author J.M. Coetzee and is about a young boy and his childhood in South Africa in the town Worcester. The boy in the book is the author Coetzee and his life between the age 10 to age 13 and his way to adjust to the society and to find himself as a person. The book describes the love and the hate that Coetzee has for his mother, and the shame that he feels for his father combined with the isolation from his classmates. Boyhood is not only about Coetzee himself but also about South Africa and the apartheid.
Brad’s regret characterizes most of the story and it seems that Linda Heuring wants the readers to remember that one cannot undo what one has said or done, even though the conditions, under which it was done, change. Zebo and Henry’s prejudice against OB, who they call goth and psycho, affects the narrator’s choices and actions, and from that it can be concluded that prejudice is contagious. People have often persecuted those who are different, be it black people, homosexuals or the skinny kid with the glasses.
