Most of these students stay up late doing homework. This is not because they have too much, but because they procrastinate. If students don’t procrastinate, they will finish their work faster, which leaves them with more time to sleep. It would also leave people with fewer after-school hours which would have a bad impact on younger kids and athletics. School start times should not be moved back because sleep deprivation is not because of start times and later start times would mean less after school hours, which is bad.

The main reason why it was said school start time should be later is because as teens they stay up later and while they are in school they are tired and sleep through class all year. More sleep could lessen depression, make grades become higher, makes the students have better focus, and prevent sleeping in class. Government believes extending the school day or even extending the amount of days a student attends school make will a big difference academically. Some are even pushing for year round school. This is not the best choice. For one extending the school year to a whole year will actually do the opposite then planned. The students and faculty would get tired of the full- time schooling and not use the time wisely.
Scheduling can become a hassle with year long schooling as teenagers are less likely to receive a job. Even, after school activities may suffer, as it can become difficult for the school to maintain the costs of having a sport and maintaining the costs of the building. This can cause many missed opportunities for the students, as sports can allow for a person to go to college, and a job can allow a teenager to receive important skills that can be used for later jobs. With year long schooling, the maintenance costs can increase upwards to 10 percent if they are open longer (Pros and Cons). Is Four-Days The Way Imagine if we had a four-day school week instead of a five-day. Some school districts have changed from the traditional five-day school week to a four-day school week. The National Education Association should consider making the changes to a four-day school week, because it will save school districts money, students get better scores, and there is better attendance. One compelling reason is, that students will get better scores on tests. I think there should be four day school weeks because students most likely want more free time out of school. The school days will end at 4:00 or maybe 4:30 pm because regular school days wouldn’t be enough learning time. This way we could have longer class periods and it’ll help because you’ll get the help you need and work will be handed in on time.
