Zlata’s Diary is an autobiography of the story of thirteen year old Zlata Filipovic and her family trying to survive the two years of war that were going on in her home town of Sarajevo, Bosnia in 1991. The pictures in the book show Zlata doing normal things such as doing homework at her desk. The purpose of the photos are to show the reality of the story; that the story really did happen only twenty six years ago. The story begins by talking about Zlatas’ life as an eleven year old before the war.
