Numerous online survey tools exist today that can be utilized by researchers to design, collect, and perform data analysis of online survey instruments. The online software package SurveyGizmo, provides researchers with the ability to develop customized online surveys. SurveyGizmo is a widely used online software package. The online software offers a variety of features including twenty-five different question types, enhanced survey logic and branching options, and survey distribution and data collection methods (SurveyGizmo, n.d.). The availability of such features, however, depends on the researcher’s level of access. SurveyGizmo is available at different pricing/account levels including free, basic, pro, enterprise, and education (SurveyGizmo, …show more content…

Additionally, the user has access to summary reports, have the ability to export data in CSV format, and have access to support services (SurveyGizmo, n.d.). In addition to the features of a free account, a basic account provides access to community support, marketing strategies, a question bank, guidelines for survey logic and rules, and web-based support (SurveyGizmo, n.d.). With a pro account, a user has access to data cleaning and analytical tools, as well as has the ability to conduct email campaigns (SurveyGizmo, n.d.). With the basic, pro, and enterprise accounts, the user can access more data export options including Excel, PowerPoint, PDFs (SurveyGizmo, n.d.). In conjunction with the pro and enterprise accounts, users can export data into SPSS, and obtain “cross tabs, comparison, segmentation reports, open text analysis” of data (SurveyGizmo, …show more content…

Among the advantages to using SurveyGizmo is the ability to “streamline tabulations” (Phillips, Phillips, & Aaron, 2013). With SurveyGizmo, users can generate summary reports and depending on the user’s account status (i.e., basic, pro, or enterprise) can develop tables, charts (e.g., bar, line, and/or pie charts), and other graphics. In addition, the ability to exported data into SPSS, CSV, and Excel is also an advantage to using SurveyGizmo. Moreover, the online platform provides detailed directions on how to perform various tasks (e.g., skip patterns, and branching) as well as video tutorials (SurveyGizmo, n.d.). Additionally, with SurveyGizmo, the development of skip patterns and branching is much easier to develop electronically (Fink, 2002).
