Positive symptoms are described as unusual actions occurring within a person’s behavior. Some that may be included are Hallucinations which can be visual or auditory voices that the person may hear. Bizarre behavior that is exhibited by the individual the way that they dress and their appearance including social and sexual behavior. The next is Delusions in which the individual may feel jealous, guilt, delusions of one controlling them, delusions of their thoughts being transmitted. Then, describe in detail four negative symptoms of schizophrenia.

Negative symptoms are described as pathological deficits that are missing from an individual. Some of these symptoms include Flat affect in where the individual exhibits fixed facial expressions, poor eye contact, poor responses, and lack of movement. The next symptoms is Alogia in where there they may be lack of speech and there is difficulty for the individual in maintaining a conversation. The next symptom is Avolition where the individual cannot perform certain tasks that they have been able to perform in the past like brushing their teeth, showering, putting their clothes on. Social withdrawal is the last symptom in where the individual will remove from their social environment and only concentrate on their mind (Comer, 2013).

6c: Explain the diathesis-stress model of schizophrenia. Then, utilizing three components of the biological view on the development of schizophrenia, discuss how the diathesis model can be applied to the development of schizophrenia in a given individual.
