He is an illegal third child that has had to hide his whole life, although he has had to hide his whole life, he now goes to school at Hendrick school for boys. Although he is supposed to stay inside, he finds a door to the outside and starts to continuously go outside. In this book, they are in a school named Hendricks school for boys. There are multiple classrooms that Lee has to pass through each day. Although this is a year round school, this takes place in the summer. This book is presented in a present day tone, meaning that what is happening is current in the book. The school is only full of boys, and Luke must stay inside at all times. Although one night he found a door to the outside. He started going outside and wanted to grow a garden. He imagined long strips of corn, potatoes and other various vegetables and fruits. One day he started to plant his garden and everything was going good until one day Jason and his friends found the garden and destroyed it. Later after that he was taken to a small cottage out in the woods with Mr Hendricks and Mr Talbot. It was an old cottage that he thought had turrets on it. Luke stayed up one night and saw Jason on the phone, he had never seen a phone before, he said. As he was walking over to him trying to be as quiet as possible, he heard him talking to someone, and light shining on his face. So he walked up to Jason and listened to his conversation, he was on the phone with a man? He was indeed on the phone with the population police, telling them all about all the third children in the school and their real names. As he was telling the story, Luke was looking at his book he figured it would be the best idea to hit Jason in the back of the head with it, so he did. Jason was knocked out cold, so Luke froze! He decided to bring him to the nurse and try to lie his way out of it and make up a fake story. He said he was sleeping and started shaking and then didn't move, so the nurse asked for Jason and Luke's name and looked it up on her computer. Although she already knew both their names, she still asked Luke more and more questions about whom Jason was, and kept on trying to get more information out of him on Jason and why he was brought to the nurse. Luke finally got out of the nurse office and went to the main office and broke in. once he found his name in the file cabinet, he tried calling Mr Talbot, but he did not think it was necessary, so he hung up on
