"One in three children are obese.” (Source E). Those numbers don't just happen by letting kids eat more. There is an underlying contributor which is changing the views of millions across America - marketing. Marketing to children needs to be taken very seriously. The current ethics involved in marketing to children need to be reformed to prevent further harm. There are many ways but one of the main ways is just to limit the marketing seen by children.
Marketing across all platforms from radio to television to the internet are all "effective in changing health behaviors on a population level" (source F). Children are having ideas in their faces that they do not even know what the ads are. Advertisements saying buy and eat more food are types of advertisements

That number of around sixty times per day is huge and imagine what is being advertised to them? Is it healthy food? Toys? There are some examples of those positives, but most of it is unhealthy food, smoking, and drinking. Children do not even know what vaping, drinking, and smoking even are. Still though, they are subconsciously falling prey to the ads and might fall into the traps of addiction or obesity later on. Teens in the same fashion are exposed to around 30,00 ads per year, a little more than the children but still that could cause a huge effect on them. While teens are still going through puberty they are "highly vulnerable to pressure to conform to group standards" and will easily hop on the bandwagon if everyone else is doing it (source C). They could see teens in a television ad smoking and they might feel pressured to start smoking to fit in. Also advertisements "manipulate them through their insecurities," because of seeing many models or famous athletes advertising something, they might buy the product so they can be just like the person they look up to (source
