Honor codes have been in schools for centuries, and the alumni of many of them have become honorable and respectful people. These honor codes provide stability and some sort of way to punish those students who believe they can get away with anything. This is why honor codes should be maintained to teach students about integrity, values, and helping to foster honesty. Honor codes should be maintained because it teachers students integrity, values, and helps foster honesty. For example, values are inflicted in alumni at a young age, yet some prefer to go the other way and cheat. Like Source F states, “Many students would simply be embarrassed to have other students find out they were cheating.” Meaning that many students grew up believing and knowing cheating was wrong and that it would have a punishment. However, thanks to the honor code, students who find others cheating and believe it is unfair know that if they decide to say something, their peer or classmate caught cheating will be properly punished.
