Through my crazy, amazing endeavor through my sophomore year the one class I will never forget is that of Advanced Composition taught by the one and only Mrs. Johnson. Advanced composition has marked an end to my atrocious writing skills and incorrect grammar use. As of January 16th, I entered this classroom as a big-eyed, giggly immature 15 year old who overuses the semicolon, come May 29th I leave a master of not only the semicolon but also the colon and the comma. Firstly, I am proud to write a perfect sentence and not sound like a 5-year-old inside of the body of a 16-year-old. To being, one of the first papers wrote. Additionally, within this essay, we can see I began to stray away from the repetition of words and phrases. This can be seen in my conclusion, I write, ¨In conclusion, social media companies should to some degree filter false information from their platforms, the vast amount of influence social media has on us can can persuade¨ (Synthesis Timed Essay) Through this sentence we can see the use of stronger diction which was not see in the last two. My use of the term vast emphasizes the need for a solution for fake news, furthering my argument. I found throughout this semester that the use of the correct diction can make or break your essay. In addition to this amelioration of diction, we can also see an improvement in the limited use of repetition in my Argumentative Essay. This essay in which was one of the ones I focused a lot of time and attention towards it is one of my favorites because it is so close to home. I am proud to say that within this essay, I have improved the attention grabber, transitions, diction and most importantly repetition. Throughout the Argument Essay, few words are repeated in exception of ¨Immigration¨.
