In the restaurant market, Sysco provides services, culinary, and technology solutions that demonstrate great care for their customer’s demands. First, they provide services that include menu consultation and marketing tools to help establish a coherent theme to a customer’s restaurant. Along with menu solutions, they also supply new menu ideas which provide excellent resources for new recipe ideas throughout the year. These services give their customers an upper-hand in the competitive realm of owning a restaurant. With more than half a million clients in various product categories, they have one of the most diverse portfolios. Product and market diversification is one Sysco’s strongest corners of their company. Their diversity in product assortment and portfolio can be identified through their wide offerings. “The company's product breakdown includes an even distribution of grocery and food products. Its largest product segments are fresh and frozen meats; canned and dry products; frozen fruits, vegetables, bakery and other products; dairy products; and poultry. Each of these segments accounts for between 10.0% and 20.0% of annual revenue” (42441 - Grocery Wholesaling in the US). Their market diversification can be identified by their past acquisitions of retailers in different markets, like the 2014 acquisition for US Foods for $8.2 billion. To stay dynamic and continue to be successful Sysco has approached 2018 with a few changes to their organization. The launch of their new website may seem like a small change on the outside, but Sysco is taking more aim at improving the overall customer experience (Sysco, 2018). Customer’s needs, wants, and expectations are always changing which means that their overall strategy must be able to adapt. To better align with their customers, a focus on delivering new innovative, industry leading products to their customer will be a primary focus. (Sysco, 2018) This not only enhances the current and future customer experience, but it also differentiates them in an increasingly more competitive market
